The math

Pro pays for itself in under 250 miles.

Each business mile is deducted at the 2026 blended IRS rate of 74.25 cents. In the 12% to 22% brackets, after self-employment tax and the QBI deduction, that saves roughly 17 to 23 cents of federal tax per mile. So Pro pays for itself once MileShield captures about 180 to 235 miles you would otherwise have missed. For a full-time driver, that is often a few shifts of deadhead miles.

Pricing questions

Common questions.

Is the Pro subscription tax-deductible?

Generally, yes. Software you use for your gig business is a business expense on Schedule C, so the subscription can be deducted along with your other expenses, which lowers its real cost.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel in your iPhone's Settings → your name → Subscriptions. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.

Do I lose my data if I downgrade to Free?

No. Your shifts and mileage live on your phone and stay with you on any plan. The Schedule C export and cloud backup of receipts beyond 30 days are the Pro features that pause.

How does MileShield’s price compare with MileIQ?

As of October 2026, MileIQ’s unlimited plan is $59.99 a year and MileShield Pro is $39.99. We can charge less because we don’t run servers that store your driving history; your routes stay on your phone. MileIQ is built for general business driving, and it can be the better fit for some people. Read the full MileShield vs MileIQ comparison.
